Agadtantra avum Vidhi Vaidyaka

Introduction:

Agadtantra evam Vidhi Vaidyaka is the branch of Ayurveda that deals with toxicology, forensic medicine, and medical jurisprudence.

Agadtantra (Toxicology): Focuses on the study of various poisons (Visha), their sources (plant, mineral, animal, artificial), symptoms of poisoning, and their management using Ayurvedic and modern principles.
Vidhi Vaidyaka (Forensic Medicine & Medical Jurisprudence): Deals with medicolegal aspects of healthcare, duties and responsibilities of physicians, postmortem examinations, and the legal framework related to medical practice.

This subject prepares students to handle poisoning cases, understand forensic procedures, and carry out medical practice in accordance with ethical and legal guidelines.

Facilities in the Department:

Toxicology Laboratory – For demonstration of practical aspects of toxicology and identification of poisonous plants/minerals.
Department Library – Contains Ayurvedic classical texts, commentaries, and modern reference books on toxicology and forensic medicine.
Museum – Displays specimens, charts, and models of poisonous plants, minerals, snakes, and insects, along with medicolegal case references.
Demonstration Room – Equipped with audio-visual aids for lectures, seminars, and practical demonstrations.
